There have been many otherwise excellent nonprofit sites before that have neglected this simple task, which resulted in their visitors having no idea what they’re all about or what cause they’re supporting. The difference between an amateurish and a professionally made non profit website design hinges on providing a clear and concise message to your would-be donors and curious visitors immediately. Don’t presume that only those who already know your cause will visit your site, because you’ll be wasting a huge amount of potential donors by thinking that way. This point cannot be emphasized enough. Because you’ll be using social media like Twitter and Facebook to get your recruits, information tends to come in byte-sized (pardon the pun) pieces, so there’s a vast majority of your visitors who’ll remain in the dark in regards to your website’s objective. Therefore, it’s only prudent to put a brief mission statement at the main page of your or provide a prominent link via banner or button that gives a plain-language explanation of what noble cause you’re trying to champion (proper reproductive health education) or problem you’re trying to solve (helping solve world hunger). You should be completely honest and brief with your story to ensure optimum understanding on your donors’ part.
