The iPad was a one of a kind tablet device when it was first released. No other devices existed and no other tablet like devices was on the shelves of stores for consumers to choose from. When Apple CEO described this new device as magical, it truly was and still is.

I found it comical that many people, who commented on the device, mocked it by saying it was an over sized phone or it ouch device. While some found these comments amusing, my attention is focused on the fact that no other tablet device existed and other manufactures were scrambling to imitate (once again) Apple. We are about to end the third quarter of 2010 and still, no other device exists for consumers; this is what makes the iPad truly unique.

While the business world moves into the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2010 the competition promises to have devices for the consumer. Wow, Apply has a nine months head start on the competition and they are ready to release a second device at or around the holidays. Haws that for innovation and staying in the lead! It seems (since the launch of the iPod) other manufactures followed after Apple.

Apple pioneered the phone and the numbers in sales speak of their success; other manufactures follow suite to imitate something perfected by Apple. Although Apple experiences their share of problems with their phone 4, this article is about the iPad and successful devices that is still growing in sales. Other manufactures are trying to capture the market of consumers, yet to buy the iPad device.

Prior to the launch of this magical device and even a few years before the announcement, no tablet or slate devices existed. I find this remarkable. When it comes to technology, someone will always be an innovator, some one company or person will take the lead and developed a device or a process that no one else produced. With the success of the phone, look at the ripple effect, other smart phone manufactures are now following in the foot steps of Apple. It’s not about being Pro Apple, the facts and the reality of the sales speaks for itself.

One can read the reviews all day and listen to the negative spin that many will put on the devices turned out by this company, but my response is: Where is the competition? Wow… to my amazement they show up after nine months to get in the game.

The ability to carry your favorite reading material with you and have it available is amazing. When the Amazon Kindle first launched, it was a must item for me. I had subscriptions to various news papers and magazines and my love for reading was… re-Kindled.

Years later, along came the iPad. The magical device described by the CEO of Apple. With the thousands of apps users have at their disposal, users and Kindle owners can download their already purchased content to their iPad device. Does this make the Kindle obsolete? I would think not. Does the iPad replace the Kindle? You decide.

In my opinion, I believe there has been a cause and effect since the release of the iPad. The effect that it’s had on Amazon was to lower their prices to possibly capture customers thinking about buying an iPad (but can’t afford one). Again this is my opinion; however, lowering the prices of the Kindle was a smart and strategic move by the makers. There are consumers who see no need (at the present) to own an iPad. What happens when they learn more about this device? Could they very well decide to make the purchase and Kindle loses another percentage of their market share? I think this could very well happen.

The iPad has not replaced the Kindle, but I feel that Kindle has to compete for its survival. While it is true, the Kindle can be read with no problems in the bright sun light while the iPad has issues with glare. There are commercials that exploit this and bring to the attention of consumers.

Has the iPad replaced my Amazon Kindle that I purchased about three years ago? Yes, I originally purchased the first generation Kindle. The Kindle was and still is a great electronic reading device. When the iPad came along, my thinking was’ “why have two devices?” Since I have access to and can read my books on my iPad, I no longer need the Kindle, so I sold it. Shortly after I sold my Kindle, the prices dropped to their now existing prices (under $140 for a base model). When this happened, I could only think, was this reflective to what other Kindle owners were doing and it caused Amazon to lower prices so consumers could afford a new kindle vice a used one?

The individual customer decides if their iPad is a replacement for their Kindle. Both are great products, but let’s face it, only one can be the star and the customer that’s attracted to many bells and whistles, might decide to go with the product that will do more than allow you to read a book.

Ever since the economic recession started a few years ago, many Americans have started earning less money as their salaries have been cut or they have completely lost their jobs. Many people have cut back on their budgets as a result, while other people have started to dip into their savings accounts or started to live on government assistance. No matter how people’s earning or spending habits have changed, however, it’s clear that everyone is looking for extra ways to earn some money and save more too. One of the ways that people often don’t realize they can earn extra cash and help other people save is by selling their old things that they no longer need.
